Fir Cones

Craft de-stash: Generically called Fir cones, we have different shapes and varieties that have fallen in our woods, been collected and dried ready for crafting.
As living seed pods, I have noticed that cones often open in warm and sunny conditions and can close up again when it is cold. Seeds from inside the cone pods will drop out when the pods are open and can be collected and spread in the wind to land and hopefully germinate to re-stock the forest.
I have roughly graded the different cones into packets of micro cones, small cones, medium cones, mixed size cones and our single item Large cones.
I have used cones in many ways: sometimes naturally coloured, sometimes spray painted with craft paints in a variety of colours, including silver, gold, red, lilac, shite etc etc depending on their use. Projects have included: Christmas Garlands, Wreathmaking, Floral displays, Table decorations, Mini Santas, Cone Christmas Trees, Woodland Fairies and much much more.
